Council has awarded a contract for kerbside recycling and a contract design and desvelopment of the Daylesford Town Hall.
The kerbside recycling processing has been awarded to Cleanaway for a two year term following a public tender process during February and March. This will cover 8,500 recycling services across the Shire generating around 1,438 tonnes of recyclables per year.
The contract is consistent with the current kerbside collection and the two year term give Council flexibility while the Victorian Government finalises its proposed recycling service standards. Council is conscious of the need to maintain consistency in existing services during this period.
The design and development contract for the Daylesford Town Hall upgrade project has been awarded to Lovell Chen for a sum of $90,620. It will advance the schematic designs endorsed in December 2024.
The work will progress to detail designs for new works to the Town Hall and Senior Citizens’ building to deliver spaces for Council and the community.
Although Council is able to fund the design work, there is little prospect of commissioning the redevelopment of the Town Hall without funding from the State and Federal Governments. It is common for State and Federal Government projects to require co-contributions from Council. Council currently has no discretionary funds for this purpose and it is likely Council would either have to take out additional loans or sell assets if the project is to proceed. Council has not published a timeline for the project beyond the design phase.
