Blackwood Hotel Big Freeze Monday 8 June

Things are about to get very cold at the Blackwood Hotel this King’s Birthday weekend, as locals gear up for a fun community fundraiser in support of Australians living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

On Monday 8 June, the pub will host its own Big Freeze fundraising event, bringing together locals from Blackwood, Ballan, Trentham and Daylesford for an afternoon of icy antics, country hospitality and community spirit.

Hotel owner Jerry Dimas has officially nominated himself to take on the challenge, alongside members of the Blackwood Hotel team, local football players and Lord Mayor Steve Venditti-Taylor.

While the exact icy challenge is still under wraps, guests can expect plenty of laughs, freezing moments and a whole lot of community cheering from the sidelines.

“We wanted to do something fun that gets the whole community involved,” said Jerry Dimas.

“The Big Freeze is such an iconic fundraiser across Australia and we thought, why not bring that energy to Blackwood? A lot of locals are already excited to watch us get absolutely frozen.”

The fundraiser forms part of the national FightMND Big Freeze campaign, which raises awareness and vital funds for MND research and support services across Australia.

Community members wanting to participate or donate can learn more via the official FightMND campaign page or the Blackwood Hotel’s fundraising page https://support.fightmnd.org.au/fundraisers/blackwoodsbigfreeze

The Blackwood Hotel encourages guests to arrive early and make a day of it across the King’s Birthday weekend.
