What happens when a creative artist is let loose amongst the old maps, glass plate photographs and treasures held within the bowels of the State Library of Victoria?

Blend this thought with an artist fascinated with geology, history and printmaking. Her connection to the area is at a property boasting a mini lava vent formed through volcanic action.

Daylesford Museum is delighted to announce our next exhibition, A volcano in my backyard? showcasing art by Perdita Phillips.

Perdita connected with our museum as part of her recent State Library Victoria/Baldessin Studio Creative Fellowship. She photographed some of our geological collection and participated in field trips to significant landscape and geological locations within the Shire. She looked at evidence of vulcanism, glaciation and mining and made prints, drawings and stereograph cards.

The exhibition will be supported with maps, geological samples and photographs from the museum collection, making connections between art and science.

When: Saturdays 11am – 3pm June 6th – August 1st

Where: Daylesford Museum, 100 Vincent St, DAYLESFORD
