Daylesford Football Netball Club was celebrating two seniors premierships last Saturday night. This is the first time in the Club’s history that they have won both the football and netball premierships in the same year.
Daylesford’s A Grade netball side narrowly defeated cross-town rivals, Hepburn, 42-41 in their Grand Final. Chelsea Imanisani was named best on court capping a huge season in which she was also named captain of the 2024 Central Highlands Netball League Team of the Year.
The Bulldogs Senior Football side had a more comfortable win over the highly fancied Bungaree 7.8-50 to 3-5-23. The Bulldogs were never fronted leading 14-0 at the first change and holding a comfortable leads at half and three-quarter time. Andrew Panayi kicked three goals for the Bulldogs. Trent Lee, Michael Cummings Jordan Schroder and Jake Briggs added one each. Travis Dean was awarded the the best on ground medal in the Grand Final
In the under 18s Grand Final, Daylesford was devastated to lose 5.11-41 to 6.7-43 to Springbank. In a sea-saw match affected by rain, wind and hail, the lead changed at every quarter. Daylesford fought back from a 29-26 deficit at three-quarter time to lead by 10 points with two minutes remaining but Springbank exploded with two goals in the last two minutes to snatch a victory. Daylesford’s Jack French, was named best on ground in a losing Grand Final side.
