The Spa Centre Daylesford branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) marked a significant milestone this week, celebrating 50 years of community service, friendship, and advocacy.

Members gathered on Wednesday, May 6, for a celebratory lunch at the Daylesford Bowling Club. The event honored a half-century of local history, dating back to the branch’s very first meeting on May 3, 1976.

The celebration was bolstered by the presence of the CWA Ballarat District Group Committee members, who joined local participants to recognize the branch’s enduring presence in the region.

A centerpiece of the afternoon was the cutting of a commemorative cake, crafted by Jamie, the granddaughter of long-time member Charlotte Brunt. The honors were shared by two of the branch’s stalwarts, Mary Richards and Charlotte Brunt, representing decades of dedication to the organization’s mission.

Throughout the luncheon, the room was filled with nostalgia as members shared stories and displayed memorabilia from the past five decades. From fundraising drives to local craft circles, the shared history highlighted the vital role the CWA has played in connecting women across the Daylesford district.

The Spa Centre Branch continues to meet on the first Wednesday of every month at the St. Peter’s Parish Community Room on Duke Street, welcoming new members to carry the tradition into its next half-century.
