The Blackwood Hotel is bringing the community together this 25 April for ANZAC Day, inviting locals and visitors to gather in the heart of the hills for a day of remembrance, connection and support for local veterans. With a focus on honouring tradition while giving back, the venue will host a relaxed and respectful setting for people to reflect, share time with others, and mark the significance of the day.
Open from 11 am the hotel will provide a welcoming space for the community while also hosting several ANZAC Day traditions.
The iconic AFL clash between Essendon Football Club and Collingwood Football Club will be shown live, alongside a traditional game of two-up, a long-standing part of ANZAC Day commemorations across Australia.
In a show of appreciation, the Hotel will offer 20% off for ex-service personnel, while also giving back directly to the local community. For every beer sold that day, $1 will be donated to the Ballan RSL, supporting ongoing work with veterans and their families in the region.
With Blackwood and surrounding areas drawing visitors over the weekend, the hotel encourages people to make a day of it whether stopping in after a dawn service, gathering with friends, or simply taking time to reflect.
Jerry Dimas, owner of The Blackwood Hotel, said the day is about community, respect and connection. “ANZAC Day is a time to come together to reflect, connect, and support those who have served. We’re proud to be able to give back to the Ballan RSL while creating a space for the community to mark the day in their own way.”
