Daylesford fans have plenty to cheer about this week with both the Bulldogs’ senior footballers and A Grade netballers marching into their respective Grand Finals for the second year running.
The senior footy side was dominant in their Preliminary Final clash with Gordon, running out 12.11 (83) to 2.7 (19) winners. The Bulldogs led at every change and kept Gordon goalless for the final three quarters in a powerful defensive display.
Chris Molivas was the star of the show, booting four majors, while Trent Lee (three goals) and Dion Lawson (two) also hit the scoreboard. Jordan Schroder, John O’Brien, Aidan Lambert and Ben Jones were among Daylesford’s best, helping the Bulldogs control the contest from start to finish.
The victory sets up a blockbuster Grand Final against Skipton, who surprised minor premiers Dunnstown with a 10.6 (66) to 7.7 (49) win. Daylesford will go into the decider with confidence, having beaten Skipton 11.11 (77) to 9.7 (61) in their Round 15 meeting. The premiership decider will be played at Mars Stadium in Ballarat on Saturday, September 13, with the first bounce at 2:45 pm.
It’s not just on the footy field where Daylesford is flying. The A Grade netballers have also secured a Grand Final berth after dismantling Springbank 67–45 in their Preliminary Final.
They’ll face Learmonth, who upset a strong Hepburn outfit 53–50 to book their spot in the big dance. The netball Grand Final will be played at Eureka Stadium on Saturday, with play starting at 3:00 pm.
Bulldogs supporters are being urged to make the trip to Ballarat and get behind both teams as they chase premiership glory.
