The state government provides funds under the Cemetery Grants Program to help cemeteries – many of which are volunteer-run – continue to function as places of remembrance for the community.
Another local cemetery, Vaughan Cemetery in Mt Alexander Shire, received a $ 10,000 grant for groundworks.
The Vaughan and Glenlyon Cemetery trusts are among 50 cemetery trusts across the state sharing in this round of grants. The grants make an important contribution to the cost of cemetery infrastructure, amenities, maintenance, equipment and training.
State member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas MP, said, “Both the Vaughan and Glenlyon Cemetery Trusts plays an important role in our local community. These grants provide an opportunity for much-needed upgrades.”
The state government is providing more than $600,000 in grants through the 2022-23 Program. Grant rounds are awarded twice a year, with applications for the current round closing on 31 March.
