Hepburn Senior football team had a convincing win over Creswick in the final round of the home and away season to finish third on the CHFL ladder behind Dunnstown on percentage.
It was a tough slog on a muddy Laurie Sullivan Reserve in what may well be a preview of conditions to come for the finals series. Hepburn got away to an early start kicking 6 unanswered goals in the first quarter. Creswick didn’t mount a challenge and Hepburn was content to coast to a comfortable victory 17.15-117 to 6.11-47. In a leading effort, Mitch Banner kicked four goals to bring his season total to 73 to secure his spot as the CHFL’s leading goal kicker. Cooper Bath also kicked four. Hepburn will meet second place Dunnstown at Buninyong Rec Reserve starting at 2:35 pm on Sunday, august 21 in the Second Qualifying Final.
Hepburn Reserves went down to Creswick 4.10-34 to 5.12-42. In an even, close fought match, Hepburn was within 2 points at the last change but Creswick added 2.2 in the last quarter to seal the match. Goals were shared equally between Jack Pedretti, Brody Thomas, Kyle Yanner and Bodhi Robinson.
Hepburn Under 15s demonstrated good finals form with a dominant performance. All of the action was at the Hepburn end with Oscar Stone kicking 14 goals for a season total of 93. All eyes will be on Oscar for the finals series. Will he get the ton? The Under 15s will meet Buninyong at Buninyong at 9:15 on Sunday, August 21st  to start their finals campaign.
The Baby Burras let Creswick get off to a quick start but held Hepburn to a single point for the last three quarter. Unfortunately they were unable to shift the balance their way and wound up with 6.0-6 to Creswick’s 3.3-21.
Hepburn under 15 and Under 17 netball sides are through to finals. Both sides went through their seasons undefeated and are a very strong chance for premierships. Arna Howard was this week named Best and Fairest in the Central Highland Netball League for both the Under 15s and the Under 17s. Finals get underway at Waubra on Saturday, August 20 with the Under 15s playing Springbank at 10:30 and the Under 17s playing Bungaree at 11:30.
The Daylesford Bulldogs senior football team finished their season with a spirited loss to Buninyong. Daylesford got the early lead but fell behind in the second quarter and Buninyong went on to a comfortable win 9.10-64 to 5.9-39. Luke Cullen kicked five goals for Daylesford. Daylesford finished 13th on the CHFL seniors ladder.
It was a tough day at the office for the Bulldogs reserves who went down to Buninyong 21.11-137 to 5.3-33. The Under 18s had a good win 10.8-68 to Buninyong’s 7.8-50. The Bulldogs Under 12s also lost 4.7-31 to 1.0-6.
Daylesford Under 15s were sitting on top of the ladder and hoping for a good finals tune-up but went down to second place Buninyong 7.4-46 to 8.6-54. Daylesford will play Learmonth at 9:15 Saturday August 20 at Waubra in the Qualifying Final.
