Stanbridge Hall, located on Central Springs Road in Daylesford, has succeeded, after many years, in securing funding to renovate this historic space.
Funding has been provided by the Anglican Diocese of Bendigo from the sale of church properties.
The Hall was once the first girls school in Daylesford created by the pastoralist and mining investor William Edward Stanbridge, a notable historic figure in the town.
It has been in dire need of rejuvenation for some years and works are to commence as early as next week. With the imminent closure of the Town Hall for renovations, Stanbridge Hall will be an even more important community space. It is anticipated works will be completed before the end of the year so the town will not be too long without a reasonably sized meeting place.
For those who are familiar with the space, the hall already has a beautiful highly polished hardwood floor, but there will be significant improvements including repainting of the walls, installation of window furnishings, re-flooring the stage, new and directional lighting within the hall, a brand new commercial kitchen and a new pantry.
The space currently known as “The Green Room” will be renovated and extended making it an ideal space for small groups to hire for craft, small conferences, meetings and a number of other uses. Its entry to the stage makes it a perfect space for theatrical performances.
The hall is a very spacious and flexible space currently hired for dancing lessons and sewing classes. With the new kitchen facilities, the space will be ideal for wedding receptions or parties. In the near future the space will be hired out for art exhibitions with Daylesford Regional Arts Co-operative as well as the Daylesford Rotary Art Show, events which have been held previously in the Town Hall and other community facilities.
