Council has opened a public survey to gain community input on how we should manage cats and dogs in our Shire. It’s part of the work they are doing to develop a Domestic Animal Management Plan.

Your feedback will be used to inform the draft plan.  Pet ownership can have many benefits for health and wellbeing but nuisance pets can have a negative impact on our community, the environment and our farming sector. The plan will need to balance these sometimes conflicting elements.

The Domestic Animal Management Plan will include a range of actions and initiatives to support responsible pet ownership such as pet welfare, registration, off-leash dog areas, cat curfews and more.

Complete the survey whether or not you own a pet. The survey will close on Wednesday 21 July.  Council intends to provide a draft plan for public comment later this year.
