Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas has announced that two schools in the electorate will receive Future Ready grants. “I am proud that young people at Daylesford Secondary and Kyneton Secondary schools will be supported to reach their full potential.”
Daylesford Secondary College will receive funding to deliver the Rural Futures program. Rural Futures is a youth-led partnership between Daylesford Secondary College and Clunes
Neighbourhood House that supports rural young people to develop confidence, transferable skills, and pathways to further education, training, employment and community participation from within their school and community. Building on an inaugural Future Ready project, Rural Futures places young people at the centre of decision-making.
Kyneton Secondary College will receive funding to deliver the CounterPunch: Connect. Relate Communicate. program. The CounterPunch program is an evidence-based initiative supporting 10– 20 vulnerable young people aged 12–18 each semester who face barriers to engagement, wellbeing and school connection. Combining structured physical activity with practical lessons in emotional regulation, resilience, leadership and positive decision-making, the program is delivered by trained staff through two gym-based sessions each week. It provides an engaging, hands-on learning environment for students who may find it challenging to connect with traditional classroom settings.
These programs are part of the Victorian State Government’s investment in the Future Ready program.
