The first phase of the Daylesford Hospital Upgrade campaign has raised over $73,000 toward the development of a Master Plan.

The Daylesford Hospital Appeal is off to a wonderful start in the first stage of the campaign. To date, $55,000 has been contributed toward the $100,000 target for the development of the Master Plan, an essential element of the Hospital Upgrade Plan.

The Community Bank Daylesford and District has pledged an additional contribution up to $25,000 on the basis of a $1 contribution for each $3 community contribution, an amount which is not yet included in the total. Including the pledged Bank contribution would make the total over $73,000.

Raising this substantial sum so early in the campaign has given the Appeal Committee confidence to press on with their endeavour.

“Given the interruption to community activities by COVID and the loss of business income at this uncertain time, this is a great result,” said Committee member, Celia Waldron. “A warm thank you to all those in the community who have contributed already to this most worthy cause. The generosity and response of the community has given volunteers additional energy to continue offering their skills and time.”

Recent audits of the hospital have noted that the ageing infrastructure is not suitable for delivering a range of health services to the standards required today. With this in mind, the Central Highlands Rural Health Board is keen to redevelop Daylesford Hospital. The Hospital is an important community asset in Daylesford for residents and visitors. It is an important triage centre for patients requiring acute care or referral to more sophisticated care in larger centres. The Hospital is also a sanctuary for those needing professional after care after their return home.
