The Daylesford Fire Brigade has launched a new recruitment campaign to bolster its ranks of volunteer firefighters and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the brigade. This week, members of the brigade came together to film a series of videos aimed at showcasing their work and attracting new members to the team.
Following in the footsteps of other successful CFA brigades, Daylesford’s recruitment videos will highlight the important role that local firefighters play in protecting the community. Captain Glenn Webster emphasised the importance of this initiative.
“We have a strong and experienced brigade, and one that I’m enormously proud of.” he said. ” However, it’s also important that we continue to grow our new members so that we create a sustainable brigade many decades into the future.”
The recruitment drive seeks to attract at least 10 new volunteer grass and scrub firefighters. Once trained, many volunteers will have the opportunity to progress into further specialised roles such as house and building firefighting and road rescue operations.
This campaign will not only benefit the Daylesford community but also surrounding areas, with opportunities for locals to join regional CFA brigades, including Hepburn, Musk, and Glenlyon, depending on their location.
A core message of the campaign is that CFA members are “Ordinary people doing Extraordinary things,” showcasing the dedication and courage of local volunteers.
“Being part of the CFA is about more than just fighting fires,” said Captain Webster. “It’s about being there for your community when it matters most. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and together, we make a real difference.”
The Daylesford Fire Brigade was thrilled to have the support of award-winning filmmaker Andrew Goodone, supported by Walkley award winning journalist Simon Rogers, who have generously contributed their expertise in producing the recruitment videos.
The recruitment videos will be shared in the coming weeks across local media and the brigade’s Facebook page. If you are interested in joining the Daylesford Fire Brigade, please contact Zac at secretary@daylesfordcfa.org.au.
