An outpouring of generosity from the Daylesford community has resulted in the fast tracking of a Masterplan that will detail essential upgrades needed at the Daylesford Hospital.

The Daylesford Hospital Upgrade Community Campaign Committee has been overwhelmed by support since it went public recently with its target of $100,000 by Christmas to fund the masterplan.

An amazing $80, 000 has already been raised, just weeks into the campaign.

Donations have been made by individuals and groups within the community, with the Daylesford Community Bank matching every $3 donated with an additional $1.

The Rotary Club of Daylesford handed over a $5,000 cheque to Campaign Committee Chair, Cr Lesley Hewitt on Thursday morning, 24 September.

“We are thrilled with the community spirit that is driving the campaign to fund the Hospital Upgrade Masterplan,”Cr Hewitt said. “Once a Masterplan has been finalised, the Campaign Committee will seek commitments from the current state Government and Opposition as we lead into an election year in 2022.”

The Masterplan will set the priorities for the Hospital upgrade, including new sterilization facilities, an operating theatre rebuild, increased space for dialysis, shared rooms replaced with single rooms and improved disability access.
