People come from far and wide for Woodend’s Chamber Poets. It’s an afternoon of moving poetry, music, humour, and friends. All are welcome to join in and experience this warm, home grown experience. This year marks 12 years of Chamber Poets monthly poetry and performance in the Macedon Ranges.

Chamber Poets was founded by renowned local Woodend poet, Myron Lysenko, and he remains the Convenor and creative driving force.

Each meeting of Chamber Poets incorporates live poetry, literature and music.

There is an Open Mic event for the first half of the meeting. Aspiring and established poets alike are welcome to read their work. During the second half, an invited guest poet reads their work.

In October, acclaimed poets Andy Jackson and Rachael Wenona Guy read a selection of their poetry.

They will also judge the Poet of the Month, chosen from the Open Mic readings. The winner is presented with the monthly trophy.

Black Forest Smoke play every meeting, a band like none other led by Myron. Compositions are their own with Myron writing many of the lyrics. Each month the band chooses a poem from the featured poet’s collection and sets it to music.

For hungry souls, delicious lunches are available to order from the RSL Bisto and bar.
