If you’re looking for an exercise alternative to walking around Lake Daylesford or Jubilee Lake, head for Cornish Hill Reserve. There are a number of well defined, family friendly tracks that enable you to explore history, flora and fauna while observing social distancing. Parking is available at the Thomas’ Lookout or at the nearby  Daylesford Skate Park.

As you explore the park, you can find out more about nearby history, flora or fauna by scanning the feature QR codes on some trail marker posts using your smart phone. Scanning the QR code will send you to a web page which contains more information about your immediate area.

Maps of the Reserve are usually available from the Daylesford Visitor Centre but during the COVID-19 closedown, you can download an A4 map in PDF format and print it at home. A vision impaired version of the map is also available. If you have the Avenza Maps app on your smart phone, you can download the map onto your device.

If you want to try Adventure Walking, use the map to try one of the easy orienteering courses on Cornish Hill. These courses are an initiative of the Eureka Orienteers in collaboration with a number of community groups and with financial support from Hepburn Shire, The Daylesford and District Community Bank and Sport Australia. This facility was recently opened by Hepburn Shire Mayor, Licia Kokocincski. All of the courses start and finish at the Thomas’ Lookout on Cornish Hill off Orford Street.

The Daylesford Orienteering Project website  has useful information and resources for Adventure Walkers of all ages and experience.
