From disco lights to storytime and dance moves, Hepburn Shire’s youth are in for a vibrant season of activities thanks to a packed calendar of events coordinated by Council’s Youth Development team.

School holidays kicked off with a bang at the Glow Roller Disco in Daylesford. Held at the ARC, the event featured age-based skating sessions, prize giveaways, and plenty of fuel from Cooked’s popular boreks and nachos. It was a hit with local families and a great way to bring young people together in a fun, safe space.

Looking ahead, younger children and families can join Birdie’s Tree Storybook sessions across the shire. Developed to help kids understand and cope with natural disasters, these engaging storytimes feature Birdie and Mr Frog, and run from late August to October in Daylesford, Trentham, Creswick and beyond.

Meanwhile, young dancers can get their groove on with free Hip Hop and Open Style Dance Classes for juniors (ages 8–12) led by JB from Existdance in Daylesford. Details and dates are available through Council’s youth team.

Hepburn Shire is also sending eight of its Amplify youth crew to Melbourne’s sold-out Music Careers Expo on 12 August—a chance for aspiring musicians to connect with industry leaders.

On 29 August, local youth are encouraged to wear purple in support of Wear It Purple Day, a national celebration of LGBTQIA+SB young people. This year’s theme, Bold Voices, Bright Futures, highlights the power of representation and pride across all areas of life.
