On Saturday morning last week, our local choir, the Honeytones, surprised bemused shoppers in Coles by giving a Flash Mob performance of the song Fix You.
We lurked among cabinets and counters until right on 10am, when our talented musical director Suzanne Hobson sang the first line of the song. Beth in bananas sang the next line then we all gradually appeared singing from different areas.
This email from Suzanne the day before paints the picture.
“Hi Honeytones,
I’ll be in the centre aisle of the fruit and veg between the lemons and the zucchini.
Beth – please go to the bananas and face me.
Altos – head for Beth and the bananas. Semi circle around them and face me. You’ll have the cream Easter eggs behind you.
Baritones – you’re to the right of the Altos, facing me. This brings you down the centre aisle a bit.
Sopranos – you are to the left of the Altos. The potatoes will be behind you, with the plums, nectarines, peaches in front of you.”
I mean, what could possibly go wrong?! Well surprisingly nothing did. With the possible exception of a disgruntled shopper trying to get to the carrots everyone seemed to enjoy it. Who knows where we will pop up next!
