Opening night of the Daylesford Rotary Art Show proved to be a very successful start to the exhibition, with strong attendance and a lively atmosphere. Artists received $10,000 in prizes donated by local businesses and philanthropists.

Dr Neil Fettling, who judged the show, commented on the very high standard of of art works on display, a testament to the reputation that the show has developed.

The venue was buzzing, with hundreds of guests milling and conversing with one another; sipping and munching on the delightful nibbles and drinks put on by Rotary for the event.

Although the W.E. Stanbridge Hall has been beautifully renovated, space was very limited for the 300 pieces on display and some were not hung to best effect. Rotary will no doubt be looking forward to a return to the Town Hall now that repairs to the roof and electrical fittings have been completed.

Overall, the evening was a great celebration of the artistic talent in our region and sets a high standard for new and emerging artists.

The show continues over the long weekend with all art for sale and a silent auction continuing until Tuesday. The days ahead are an opportunity to view the show with smaller crowds in the hall.

Rotary Daylesford expressed their great appreciation to their many sponsors.
