Hearing the night call of a Boobook owl, watching an Eastern Spinebill darting amongst your grevilleas or witnessing a dragonfly emerge from the nymph in your pond, these moments will connect you with nature and enrich your life.
An introductory talk on Wildlife Gardening will outline the core elements of habitat creation and provide you with know-how and inspiration about simple ways you can create wildlife habitat, whether you’re starting from scratch or adding to an existing garden.
Dr Cassia Read is an ecologist, educator and a future-oriented garden designer. All her work centres on creating win-win landscapes that support both the wellbeing of people and conservation of biodiversity. She is the Principal Ecologist and Co-Founder of the Castlemaine Institute and author of Gardens for Wildlife: A gardeners guide.
The seminar will include a talk by Jeremy Neal from Wombat Native Plants in Bullarto about native plant propagation.
The event is an opportunity to meet members of Gardens for Wildlife. The presentation is supported by Hepburn Shire through their Biodiversity Grants scheme.
