Where Olive Trees Weep is a film which portrays the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice. The film has an online premiere from June 6-27, 2024 and will be shown at Radius Art Space in Hepburn on Sunday June 23rd.
The film follows the lives of people involved in and affected by the current conflict in Gaza – Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. Canadian-Hungarian physician, Dr. Gabor Maté, with his special interest in childhood development and the lifelong impacts of trauma on physical and mental health, offers trauma-healing work to a group of women affected by imprisonment.
Through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of the resilience of the Palestinian people who have suffered through decades of repression.
