Here is the latest update from the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre.

Well, we made through Term 1 with no additional lockdowns and no further dramas on the health side!   Things are starting to feel good again, but we all still need to be on our best behaviour.    We have a great Term 2 lined up with some wonderful courses!  Get in quick, some courses are almost fully subscribed already and may be by the time you read this!!

FOOD SAFETY HANDLER:    Tues 4th May
This nationally accredited training covers the skills and knowledge required to apply good hygiene practices for people wishing to work in the hospitality industry.  If you work with food, or want to broaden your employment options, you should have your Food Safety certificate.
INTRODUCTION TO REFLEXOLOGY:   7 weeks commencing 3rd May
In this course you will learn how reflex points in the feet or hands can affect other parts of the body and how working on the feet can induce a state of calm. There will be theory and hands-on training.  You may want to improve and build your skills and knowledge as an already qualified therapist or you may be looking at going on to study massage or beauty therapy.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will have an understanding of:
  •    the reflexology and the spa industry
  •    some foot reflexology techniques
  •    some hand reflexology techniques
  •    the structure of the foot
  •    the structure of the hand
  •    various body systems and how reflexology can support these systems
This course will give participants the basis for taking the next step in the massage industry with any of the following courses:2

POETIC TREASURES OF SUFISM:   9 Weeks from 1st May

Join local author Alice Melike Ülgezer exploring the poetic and mystical traditions of Islam. The course opens with an exploration of pre-Islamic Bedouin poetry and moves on to the development of Islam and the mystical traditions, poets and saints of Central Asia, Iran and Turkey. It concludes with some modern Middle Eastern poets and a film screening by a director steeped in the Sufi Poetic.

Alice Melike Ülgezer is a published author of one novel, poetry, essays short fiction etc.  Alice has  an academic background in Islamic mysticism as well as being of Islamic descent.
