A group of locals is aiming to walk 10 MILLION steps in November to raise money for the Cafs (Child and Family Services, Ballarat) Christmas Appeal. They are doing tis in November so that the funds will be available in time for distribution to families in need preparing for Christmas.
Each year, Cafs aims to bring some festive cheer to those in our community who are experiencing difficulties and 2021 is no exception. This year they are seeking to support in excess of 600 local children and their families through the Cafs Christmas Appeal.
We know that families in our community are experiencing the compound impact of two years living through the COVID-19 pandemic. This has decreased their ability to earn an income and negatively affected their mental and physical health.
Cafs supports children and families across a vast community all the way from Ararat to Ballan, Bacchus Marsh to Ballarat and even Beaufort to Daylesford! They cover the entire Central Highlands region.
I’m hoping we can get a group of committed locals together to make a challenge to help raise money for them to support families in need this Christmas. It doesn’t have to be 10,000 steps a day. You could make a different challenge suitable to your own situation.
Wow, 10 million steps I hear you thinking. Ambitious! I suppose it is. But it has to be a stretch for people to support our goal. ) If we get 35 people to join our team and if each of them commits to 10,000 steps a day for every day in November, then we will surpass our goal of 10 million steps. (You can do the maths!)
You can join our team and recruit people to sponsor you. Or you can donate to support one of the people in our team.
If we get 35 people and they each manage to raise $100, we will raise $3500 to support local families this Christmas.
Anyone who is interested in registering to join the team or who would like to sponsor our team by making a donation can visit the website.
All donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to Cafs. All donations above $2 are eligible for a receipt for income tax purposes which will be automatically generated.
