U3A Hepburn Shire has had a very exciting start to 2026!
At our U3A Member Support and Registration day on the 28th January at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre our team was able to welcome approximately fifty long standing and new members and assist them in registering and signing up for a range of classes. Many others applied online, using our new Member Wizard system, with the result that we are off to a very healthy start to the year, with approximately 240 members able to access classes from a very wide range of long and short courses, from ‘Bush Walking’ to ‘Book Clubs’ to ‘Table Tennis’ to ‘Warbling Wombats’ and many more. In addition to long courses which run throughout the year, U3A Hepburn Shire offers short and one day courses at various times. These include: ‘The Power of Purpose: Finding Meaning as we Age’ ‘Current Issues in Criminal Law’ and ‘Sharks: their 500 Million Year History’.
There’s something to appeal to all tastes and interests!
The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a global, volunteer-led movement providing educational, creative, and social opportunities for retired or semi-retired individuals, typically aged 50 and over. The organisation depends upon individuals giving up their time and energy as volunteers, whether that be as tutors or committee members. Others provide space in their homes as meeting places for classes. There are over 100 U3As in Victoria, and they are supported by U3A Victoria Central.
Joining the U3A is a great way to keep in touch with old friends, and to make new ones. In addition to courses and classes, the committee organises a number of regular get-togethers throughout the year such as our annual Christmas Party and Members Morning Tea events.
After registering, members pay $65 for the whole year and for that can join as many classes as they wish!
We always welcome new members, and if you would like to find out more, register as a member and select your classes, take a look at our website https://hepburn-shire-mw.web.app/
