The Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre has released its Term 3 program.

Skills based courses like First Aid, Food Handlers and Responsible Serving of Alcohol (RSA) return. These courses are great for anyone who needs to renew old qualifications or upskill to broaden their employment options.

DNC is now offering Wu-style Tai Chi for Beginners, as well as the regular 8 Silken Movements and Stretch Therapy.  All classes can be accessed on a casual basis and pricing/contact information is in our brochure.  Bookings for all these classes are required so the instructor can monitor numbers in rooms. Monday nights see the return of our Poetry sessions.   Tutor, Ross Gillett is a multi award winning poet. His poems have been published in the Age and the Australian, along with many other respected publications.   Ross’s classes are available in person or if you can’t get in for a face-to-face session and want to be zoomed in, this is now possible thanks to our new  teleconferencing equipment!   Distance is no longer a boundary to taking part in the Poetry classes.

Alice Melike Ülgezer will offer a  course exploring the poetic and mystical traditions of Islam. The course opens with an exploration of pre-Islamic Bedouin poetry and moves on to the development of Islam and the mystical traditions, poets and saints of Central Asia, Iran and Turkey. Numbers for this course are limited so get in quick if Islamic poetry is of interest for you.

This term FREE School Holiday activities are also available!!   Rookeepers are returning with some iconic Australian Wildlife.   This is a wonderful opportunity for you to get up close and personal with our Aussie wildlife.  Well behaved parents are welcome to attend with their child!

“Rock-up” Shoot-The-Hoops and “Rock-up” Squash are also being introduced.   A great opportunity for anyone who wants to just have a try at Squash or just shoot some hoops with their buddies!   These activities are on over specific dates and times – all listed in the Term 3 brochure.   Bookings for Rookers are essential, but the event is free to everyone.

Finally, commencing in August, there is an ACFE sponsored Introduction to Aromatherapy course!   As this courses is heavily subsidised by ACFE and eligibility criteria apply.  Tutor, Margaret McConvill is an expert in her field and all students have been enjoying her recent sessions.  This would be a great taster course for anyone wishing to get in to Aromatherapy or learn more about how to use essential oils.
