DNC Annual General Meeting

A good number of hardy DNC members attended our Annual General Meeting last Tuesday evening, braving the freezing weather.

They heard a review of our past year’s efforts and gained an insight into the Centre’s exciting times ahead.

In her Chair’s Report, Gina outlined the challenges we’ve had financially over the past twelve months, but that we were looking forward to an easier year ahead.  She described the challenges in providing services to our community with only 0.7 FTE staffing, and expressed gratitude to our volunteers who help make up the numbers.  Given the State Government’s parlous financial position, she does not expect any improvement in the funding model for the Centre any time soon.

She thanked the Members of the Committee of Management for their support throughout the year and gave credit to our paid staff – Manager Danny Liversidge (who departed during the year) to Linda Carroll who stepped in as Interim Coordinator, and to Ethen Morrison (Customer Service, Admin & IT).

She welcomed our new Coordinator (Kate Moran) and predicted a better, brighter year for the DNC, building our community, developing strong relationships with stakeholders and ongoing revitalization of the Centre.

Lynda Poke and Dudley McArdle were thanked for their services on the Committee, Lynda as an Ordinary Member and Dudley as Secretary.  The new Committee of Management was elected:

Gina Lyons (Chair)

Rod Poxon (Treasurer)

Jennifer Schembri (Secretary)

Robyn Rogers (Ordinary Member)

Judy Lazarus (Ordinary Member)

Elizabeth Ballinger (Ordinary Member)

We look forward to a stimulating, “FUN” year at the DNC.

DNC Joke of the Week

So I saw an old chap outside my local bar fishing in a puddle. He looked so cold!

I said to him “Come in for a drink and warm up”.

As we sipped our double whiskeys I thought I would humour him and said “How many have you caught today?”

He replied “You’re the eighth”.
