Every year at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, millions around the world pause in silence to remember the sacrifices many have made in the service of their country.
Amongst those who served from the Daylesford area is Private Sebastian Tatti.
Private Tatti was born in Daylesford in 1883 where he spent his childhood and attended the Daylesford State School. He enslisted in the Australian Infantry in September 1914 at Blackboy Hill in Western Australia where he was probably working as a miner.
Private Tatti served in the 12th Infantry Battalion which left for Europe from Fremantle in November 1914 on the HMAT Medic. He was a medic for the battalion.
Private Tatti was killed in action on the 27th of March 1917 in France at Bullecourt. He is buried in the Vault Hill Cemetery.
His brothers Frank and Henry also served in the AIF. Frank was killed in action in Belgium in September 1917.
