Last week, Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas met with Powercor in relation to the ongoing power outages across the Macedon electorate.
Ms Thomas wrote to Powercor CEO, Tim Rouke, to bring his attention to the constant power outages across Trentham, Blackwood, Romsey, Lancefield and Kyneton, as well as electricity connection reliability across the Macedon electorate.

Powercor has released a statement saying that they had found the cause of multiple power outages in the Macedon Ranges and the Central Highlands and that crews inspected and replaced a variety of items – lighting surge arrestors, fuses, insulators, and high-voltage leads – on seven high-voltage power poles along Martin Street South in Blackwood.
Powercor went onto say that, “After careful examination of these items, crews found an insulator that had visible burn marks indicating a fault had occurred. This is consistent with what our engineering teams expected to be found from the type of fault believed to have caused the outages.”
Powercor has now replaced the insulator and residents across the Macedon electorate should now look forward to reliable electricity in the future.
Expectations were short lived, however, as another widespread outage affected the Ballarat region early this morning. The outage area extended from Beaufort in the east to Woodend and from Meridith in the south to Guildford. Power was out in the Daylesford area for about 30 minutes from 5:00 am.
