As the golden hues of autumn begin to settle over the Hepburn Shire, Australia’s premier regional queer pride festival is preparing for a “stellar” milestone. From March 5 to 9, 2026, the ChillOut Festival returns to Daylesford, transforming the “gay capital” of regional Victoria into a vibrant universe of connection and queer country pride.
Celebrating its 29th year, the 2026 festival has officially launched under the shimmering theme “Planet Love.” This year’s theme invites attendees to blast off into a “galaxy of glitter” where visibility, kindness, and community are the gravity that holds everything together.

A Star-Studded Lineup
The 2026 program is one of the most ambitious in the festival’s history. Leading the charge at the iconic Carnival Day is the ARIA-nominated electronic duo Electric Fields, fresh off their global tours. Joining them is a powerhouse of queer talent, including the biting wit of Reuben Kaye, the ethereal pop of TikTok sensation Jude York, and the avant-garde performance art of The Huxleys.+1
Drag royalty will also descend on the Shire, with RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under superstars Kita Mean, Hannah Conda, and the irrepressible Spankie Jackzon hosting major events across the long weekend.
The “Big Top” Experience
Following the massive success of the temporary venue in 2025, the ChillOut Big Top returns to Victoria Park. This massive, circus-style tent will serve as the festival’s headquarters, hosting the Friday Night Blast Off, Saturday’s high-octane dance parties, and the official Poof Doof Drag Jamboree after-party on Sunday night.+1
For those seeking a more traditional experience, the beloved Bush Dance remains a staple, while the Leather Soirée at the Farmers Arms Hotel offers a playful, “country-kink” twist with a dress code of “leather and plaid.”
Community and Connection
At its heart, ChillOut remains a community-led event. The Street Parade on Sunday, March 8, will see Vincent Street lined with thousands of spectators as local community groups, emergency services, and festival stars parade down the main drag.+1
A significant addition for 2026 is the Youth Muster: Universe of Diversity. Held in Victoria Park, this free, all-ages event provides a safe platform for emerging LGBTQIA+ talent, including youth choirs and rock bands, ensuring the next generation of queer country kids feels seen and celebrated.+1
Planning Your Visit
With nearly 30,000 visitors expected, the town is set to reach capacity. Local highlights like The Convent Gallery will host “Rainbow Exhibitions,” while the Daylesford Olympic Pool will once again be transformed for the legendary Saturday Pool Party.
Whether you’re there for the high-energy dance floors or a quiet soak in the local mineral springs between events, ChillOut 2026 promises a world where everyone belongs. As Festival President Matt Clarke notes, Planet Love is a reminder that in Daylesford, love is free, and the air is always fresh.
