It’s been hard to believe that Daylesford may actually have a cinema some time in the near future but to say there’s been a great leap forward is an understatement!

The Daylesford Community Cinema Committee has been putting in massive amounts of hard work raising funds to help pay for all the furnishings and accessories required to run a cinema and as you can imagine, it’s not cheap to set up a cinema.

The big news is that the physical fit out for the cinema has now been completed!  What an amazing effort in such a short time.  Many of us couldn’t imagine that we would have a cinema up and operating in 2025, but the reality is that it is happening and moving towards completion at a great rate.

There is of course still some work to do – for instance receiving and installing the projection equipment. But the equipment has been ordered!

What does the fit out look like?  Well that is still to be revealed in terms of photos but the seats are installed, the foyer has been set up and decorated, the screen is up and the café/candy bar is ready for operation.  Essentially, it’s ready to go and just waiting on the technical equipment.  The committee hope be able to announce an opening date for the cinema in the near future – something the entire town is looking forward to.

In the meantime, the Daylesford Community Cinema Committee continues to need funds and they will continue to raise funds over the next few months.  The next fundraising opportunity is the Movie Trivia Night coming up on May 7rd at the Daylesford Bowls Club hosted by the famous Dolly Disco.  Lots of prizes to be won and the price of $45pp includes a meal and game cards.  Why not get a team of 4,6,8 or 10 people together and book a table to have fun testing your movie knowledge.  For more information contact Ian McKnight on 0478486888, tickets are available via Humantix.

Congratulations to the Daylesford Community Cinema Committee on getting this far in such a short time, keep up the good work.
