The Christ Church Parish News for June outlines a number of initiatives and events – some of them more challenging than others. The cover photo contrasts the chilly weather outside the church with the warm vestments inside.

Like many other local residents, Father Neil Fitzgerald’s property in Woodend had many trees down from last Wednesday’s weather event. The driveway was blocked and power lines fell across the front gate. As a result there had to be last minute changes to church services.

The Church has made an application to Heritage Victoria to develop the Stanbridge Centre. This will include upgrading of the kitchen to provide opportunities for training and cooking classes. This could provide an alternative now that this is no longer possible due to planning changes for The Rex development.

Diary dates include church meetings during June and the comic opera, Don Pasquale, in early August.

COVID has meant that events, including Don Pasquale, have had to be rescheduled. Fortunately, regional restrictions have been lifted. The Don Pasquale organisers are hoping they’ll be in luck this time. Bookings at try booking.com
