The newly developed surgical theatre at Daylesford Hospital opened its doors for the first time since the redevelopment started in May 2022.
The redevelopment included upgrades to the operating theatre, patient waiting area, sterile stock storage area, and recovery area.
The theatre will have a staggered start to ensure smooth and safe services for the community. For the next month, the theatre will accommodate reduced patient lists. In September, the theatre capacity will increase.
Last week, Daylesford Health had an endoscopy list of eight patients, with ophthalmology lists soon to follow after the staggered start.
Susan Jennings, Executive Director of Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Officer at Central Highlands Rural Health said, “We’re delighted to open our refurbished facilities to the community to ensure more locals can get the surgery they need closer to home.”
The media relations office for the Minister for Health, Mary-Anne Thomas, has confirmed that an official opening of the refurbished theatres will be held on Tuesday, August 20.
