DNC’s new Term 2 brochure is finished and will be hitting the streets any minute now!  We have a bumper brochure this term with lots of new and exciting courses on offer!

Term 2 will see the usual skills based courses like First Aid, Food Handlers and RSA return. These courses are great for anyone who needs to renew old qualifications or upskill to broaden their employment options.   We have 3 health-related activities on offer!  We are now offering Wu-style Tai Chi for Beginners, as well as the regular 8 Silken Movements, Hatha Yoga and Stretch Therapy.  All classes can be accessed on a casual basis and pricing/contact information is in our brochure.  Bookings for all these classes are required so the instructor can monitor numbers in rooms. Please refer to the brochure for contact information.

Monday nights see the return of our Poetry sessions.   Our Tutor, Ross Gillett is a multi award winning poet. His poems have been published in the Age and the Australian, along with many other respected publications.   Ross’ classes are available in person or if you can’t get in for a F2F session and want to be zoomed in, this is now possible thanks to our new  teleconferencing equipment!   Distance is no longer a boundary to taking part in the Poetry classes.  Please call Ross direct if you would like to know more about taking part in his class, either personally or via Zoom.

We also have  a course from Alice Melike Ülgezer exploring the poetic and mystical traditions of Islam. The course opens with an exploration of pre-Islamic Bedouin poetry and moves on to the development of Islam and the mystical traditions, poets and saints of Central Asia, Iran and Turkey. Numbers for this course are limited so get in quick if Islamic poetry is of interest for you.

There are two new School Holiday activities available and the best news is they’re both free!   We have a Mountain Bike ride as well as the Great Dividing Trail Walk from Hepburn Springs to the Chocolate Mill.   Both activities are sponsored by the VicHealth’s Re-imagining Health Program.   We expect these activities to be extremely popular and places are limited.   Bookings must be made via the DNC website or Trybooking (MTB ride or  GDT walk).

Finally, we have 2 ACFE courses offering Introduction to Textile Design and Introduction to Reflexology!   These courses will offer participants a taster for either the Textile or Massage industry and both offer pathways to employment in various fields.   These courses are heavily subsidised and we expect them to be very popular.
