An exhibition at The Convent Gallery opening on April 28th will cover forty years of work by prolific local and international artist, Monty Osewald.
Titled “People and Places”, his paintings and prints will be hung across the entire first floor gallery in four groupings representing work he has done in countries where he has travelled including Australia, Germany, Samoa and Hungary. The exhibition includes three dimensional pieces of his early work, replacing an entire group that were burnt at the time of a devastating arsonist fire in his studio.
Monty is a multimedia artist working in ceramics, print making and painting. His work is strong and colourful with sweeping brush strokes.
He has been a colleague and friend of the Convent Gallery doyen, Tina Banitska, and plans to gift much of his work to the Ballarat Gallery in due course.
The Opening of the exhibition will feature a Burlesque Tassel Dance performed by Minnie Mahem so don’t be late. Monty will paint Minnie live in the Conservatory after her performance. Bring your drawing gear if you would like to Join Monty in painting Minnie in action.
