Well known Daylesford identity, Max Primmer has won the Ageing Well Award at the 2023 Victorian Seniors of the Year Awards.
The Victorian Senior of the Year Awards celebrate the many senior Victorians who share their skills, experience, time, and energy with their community. The awards are presented annually each October as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.
Victorian Governor, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC and Ingrid Stitt MP, the Minister for Mental Health, Ageing and Multicultural Affairs presented the award to Max at a ceremony at Government House, which was followed by a morning tea in the glorious Spring sunshine in the gardens.
Speaking after the award ceremony Max said, “I can’t believe that I’ve won something and an ageing well award is just amazing. I’m very happy, very excited and to have everybody here with me is thrilling. It’s an absolute privilege to be able to do what I do.”
Many Daylesford Hepburn locals will know Max from his advocacy for the LGBTIQ+ community and his Ageing Disgracefully morning teas each Thursday at the Mill Market. He has been a member of the Chill Out Committee, a regular compere of the New Years’ Eve Parade and a volunteer at Hepburn House.
Max was also one of the founding members and presenters of Hepburn Community Radio and continues to be a breakfast show presenter on Wednesdays to Fridays from 8 to 10am. He is also a presenter on Phoenix FM in Bendigo.
