A major road maintenance program is being rolled out across Victoria, aiming to rebuild, repair, and resurface roads across the state.

The $976 million program will see hundreds of projects delivered between now and mid-2026, with 70 per cent of the funding directed towards regional roads.

Over the next nine months, crews will complete thousands of works across the road network, including rehabilitation and resurfacing, patching potholes, maintaining bridges, installing traffic lights and signage.

The works will target Victoria’s busiest travel and freight routes, including the Western, Princes, Hume and Calder Highways in regional areas, as well as the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, Leakes Road, Normanby Road, Warburton Highway and Boronia Road in metropolitan areas.

Roads were prioritised based on expert assessments and community feedback to ensure upgrades are focused where they are most needed.

As part of the program, crews will also carry out roadside mowing, slashing and spraying, inspect and repair bridges and other structures, maintain traffic lights and electronic signs, and remove graffiti.
