Bookings are now available for COVID-19 vaccinations for people 50 years of age and older at Springs Medical. In line with the federal government rollout, selected general medical practices can start administering the vaccine to Group 2 from May 17.
Appointments at Springs can be made for vaccination clinics by booking on-line, by telephone (03 5348 2227) or in person. Clinics will operate on Saturday afternoons and all day Sunday in order that the vaccination clinics do not interfere with normal day-to-day operations of the practise.
At the time of writing, appointments were available from Saturday, May 29.
Springs Medical has been offering a vaccination waiting list for Group 1b and making appointments once vaccine supplies were available. However, Springs is now offering appointments rather than a wait list because vaccine supplies are more reliable.
“We have sufficient supply of the vaccines to meet our current demand,” said Emma Johns, CEO of Springs Medical. “We will continue to monitor booking numbers and review available appointments to meet demand.”
Prior to attending the vaccination clinic, people should download a COVID-19 Vaccination Consent Form or pick one up in person from Springs Medical. Complete the consent form and take it with you to the appointment.
There has been a great deal of interest from people in the 50 and over age group and vaccination hubs have been very busy since people in Group 2 became eligible to receive the vaccine. The 50 to 70 year age group comprises about 35% of the Daylesford population according to ABS data and it seems likely that demand for local vaccinations will be high.
The Ballarat Health Services community vaccination clinic started rolling out the vaccine to Group 2 earlier this week. The clinic is located at the Mercure Hotel and Convention Centre (618 Main Road, Ballarat). Appointments can be made by calling the Victorian Vaccine Call Centre 1800 675 398. Appointments are not necessary. The clinic will accept walk-ins between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday although there may be delays for people arriving without an appointment.
