The Latrobe Community Health Service is running a free seminar at the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre tailored for people aged 65 about continuing to live at home as they get older.
The seminar is for those who want to know how to access government funded subsidies that will help them live happily at home when they need support. The seminar will also provide advice on the ‘My Aged Care’ system covering Commonwealth Home Support Services and Home Care Packages. This will include information on accessing services, assessment, waiting times, cost, service availability and finding a provider.
Some of the services provided through the Home Support Program and Home Care Packages include:
- lawns and gardening; home maintenance, window and gutter cleaning
- personal care and meals
- home modifications (rails, ramps and bathrooms)
- house cleaning
- podiatry, physio, chiropractic, pharmacy items
- mobility aids and transport for shopping or medical appointments
- social inclusion
Latrobe Community Health Service is a secular, charitable not-for-profit health service. Their origins are in Gippsland in regional Victoria but they have grown rapidly in recent years. Their services include general practice (GP); nursing; allied health; dental; counselling and psychology; gambling support; alcohol and drug treatment; migrant and refugee settlement services; social connection and carer support services.
