Anne Elizabeth Huxtable was a Daylesford resident whose severely disabled daughter, Lucy, attended Daylesford Primary School.

Huxtable has written a moving memoir of her time as a mother who worked hard to create the best life she possibly could for her daughter. After doctors said there was no hope for her newborn daughter, she mother refused to give up. Despite her severe disabilities, Lucy went on to touch many lives with her presence and became her mother’s greatest teacher. Huxtable discovered latent talents, fortitude, resilience and ultimately, the greatest gift of all, the true meaning of unconditional love.

After Lucy’s death 15 years ago, and armed with these new skills, Huxtable has forged an international career as a sound therapist and healer. Originally a research scientist and then a Secondary School Maths teacher in Australia, she began her journey into complementary therapies 25 years ago. She is a qualified masseuse and Reiki practitioner. As a musician and singer, Elizabeth developed an interest in how music and sound can be used for healing and energy balancing. While studying Sound Therapy at the Globe Sound and Consciousness Institute in San Francisco, she tapped into the healing power of her voice and began toning sounds with healing frequencies.

Huxtable is currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she is the Principal at a Wellness Centre called Scientific Sound Asia, but also spends time in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Europe, Hong Kong and the US.

Huxtable wanted to return to Daylesford to launch her book. The launch is tentatively scheduled for Saturday 18 March at 2pm at the Convent Gallery.
