Last Saturday’s “Last Night of the Proms” at the Daylesford Town Hall was a wonderful celebration of music from the British Isles, inspired by the BBC Proms, held in London each year.
This rousing fundraiser for the Daylesford Community Brass Band featured music performed by the Brass Band, joined by the Daylesford Pipes and Drums, as well as marvellous solo performances of playing, singing and some moving recitals.
The effort that went into the costumes and table decorations by the 150 attendees showed how heartily they rose to embrace the spirit of the occasion.
The event contributed greatly to the Brass Band’s aim to upgrade a key musical instrument. Much appreciation is due to the generous sponsorship from local businesses, Blake Family Grocers, Beppe Kitchen and Bar, Hepburn Distillery, Sailors Falls Estate, Palais-Hepburn, Coles, Daylesford Home, Timber and Hardware, Wombat Forest Wines, Cliffy’s Emporium, Bar Merenda, Cellarbrations Daylesford, Herbal Lore Liqueurs, The Grande Hotel, Hepburn Springs and in particular the on-g0ing key sponsorship of the Bendigo Bank, Daylesford.
