Klemantyne Ensemble is a nine piece string ensemble that has performed to appreciative audiences across the region. They are returning to Christ Church after a very successful concert in 2022.

Under the leadership of Nicci Dellar, Klemantyne performs an eclectic mix of music from baroque to a recently sold-out Bridgeton themed concert of the Regency era, as well as concerts featuring Latin American and music of the 20th century.

Klemantyne ensemble have selected a highly romantic program from the 1800’s, consisting of repertoire for Strings and Harp. They are thrilled and
honoured to be performing with guest artist and soloist, Elisabetta Ghebbioni.

A wonderful marriage of Strings and Harp are perfect for the beautiful music of the Romantic era. Composers such as Saint-Saens, Elgar, Mascagni, Sibelius and Ravel have inspired listeners all around the world with their charm, vitality and overwhelming expressiveness. The beautiful extended melodies you will hear are emotional and full of energy and yet they can also be dramatic and intense. This is a concert for the listener to close their eyes and be transported to many different stories throughout passionate instrumental music.

Harpist Elisabetta Ghebbioni

Formed in 2018, the Klemantyne Ensemble consists of passionate string musicians from Ballarat and surrounding areas. The Ensemble includes Nicci Dellar and Yvonne Holley (first violins), Jill Gilbert and Connor Vincent (second violins) Louise Hildyard and Kate Both (viola), Miriam Kriss and Nigel Smith (cello) and Francis Chataway (double bass). Their vision is to provide our region with an opportunity to enjoy and experience classical music performed to the highest possible standard. The core members of the Klemantyne Ensemble are professional teachers and players, who have extensive local and international performance experience.

Guest Artist Elisabetta Ghebbioni graduated with the highest marks from the Conservatorium “G. Nicolini” in Piacenza, northern Italy, the city of her birth. She continued her study of the harp with Giuliana Albisetti in Milan and Jacqueline Borot in Paris. Elisabetta held the position of First Harp in the Orchestra Sinfonica di Lecce for eight years and collaborates actively with most important Italian music institutions: Orchestra RAI, Teatro la Fenice, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala. She is especially dedicated to chamber music and, with flautist Andrea Dainese and violist Giancarlo Di Vacri formed the Trio Leonardo, giving recitals throughout Europe, USA and Australia and collaborates with composers to find and to create new music for this combination of instruments.

As professor of Harp Elisabetta taught at the Conservatoriums of Matera, Lecce, Piacenza, Vicenza, Castelfranco Veneto and Bologna; from 2010 to
2021 she held the position of Chief teacher of Harp at the Benedetto Marcello, the Conservatorium in Venice.
