Kevin Welch will be playing at Palais-Hepburn on Saturday 3 June.

Kevin is a highly credentialed and much-admired country/folk singer songwriter from Oklahoma, now living on the Shoalhaven Coast in New South Wales.

He first visited Australia in 1999 with musical buddy Kieran Kane and they played a series of concerts at iconic Melbourne music venue The Continental Café. The concerts were recorded, and a CD was released “11/12/13: Live in Melbourne” which became somewhat of an underground classic.  Then followed three successive records with Kieran Kane and Fats Kaplin, You Can’t Save Everybody, Lost John Dean, and Kane Welch Kaplin.  The trio were nominated two years in a row for Best Group by the Americana Music Association.

Kevin and Kieran toured regularly to Australia and the pair developed a strong support base.

Kevin’s songs have been recorded by many of the great US country singers. In 2018 Chris Stapleton recorded and released his song “Millionaire”, which stayed on the Billboard Chart for over 50 weeks and made it to #2.

His last release was “Dust Devils” in 2018 which continued his softly spoken story-telling style. Expect to hear songs from this album and his deep and rich back catalogue, when he plays at Palais-Hepbun.

Hepburn Community Radio was lucky enough to interview Kevin when he played a house concert in Daylesford a few years back. You can listen to the interview on the HCR soundcloud.
