Hepburn Community Radio (HCR) will begin FM Broadcasting at 11.30am on Saturday 3rd December from its studio in the Joel Pedley Room at 13 Camp Street, Daylesford.
Hepburn Community Radio began digital broadcasting in December 2015 at the old police quarters behind the Daylesford Neighbourhood Centre (DNC). The original committee included Pat Harrison, Mike Brown, Ian Bailey, Max Primmer, Trevor Shard and Sharon Nicholson. Sadly, Pat Harrison and Mike Brown are no longer with us.
In September 2021, HCR acquired access to the 88.0FM Low Power Open Network (LPON) community broadcasting license in Daylesford. An application to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) to move the license location from its original location in Albert Street to Camp Street, Daylesford was approved in April 2022.
Following that, Hepburn Shire Council and the Community Bank Daylesford District provided grants for the purchase of a transmitter and antenna. The antenna was installed by local technicians Sigtek. The signal strength has been tested can be received between 5 and 10 kilometres from its location in Camp Street, depending on local topography.
FM broadcasting provides HCR with the opportunity to “relaunch” the station. There is a call out on social media for presenters and support staff. Internet broadcasting will continue.
