Both the Hepburn Men’s and Women’s senior cricket sides are through to Castlemaine and District Cricket Association finals which start this weekend.

The men’s side played their final round of the season against Maiden Gully. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Hepburn made 3/267. Bodhi Robinson notched his second century for the season making 110 not out in another fine display by this young player. Opener Brayden Yanner contributed 58 in a 115 opening partnership with Bodhi. Nash Robinson added a dashing 65 in a partnership of 128 with brother Bodhi before being dismissed in the 37th over with 2 overs left to play.

It was always going to be a tough chase for Maiden Gully. Wickets fell steadily with only Marc Brownlee (31) offering substantial resistance. Will Shiell bowled very well taking 3/21 off 8 overs. Dan Bell took 3/36 and Brayden Yanner and Zac Pedretti contributed 2 wickets each.

The win left Hepburn on top of the A Reserve grade. They will meet Maiden Gully again this week in the semi-final at Barkers Creek Reserve on Saturday, March 5 starting at 1:00 pm.

In their final home-and-away game, Hepburn Women won the toss and sent Guildford in at their home ground. Guildford made 6/86 with Ellenor Landy top scoring with 15 not out. Bowling for Hepburn, Lucinda Lowe took 2/7 and  Subi Clark took 2/3.  In reply, Hepburn made 8/74 with runs shared around. Lucinda Lowe top scored with 12.

The loss left Hepburn in fourth place on the Women’s ladder. They will play top side Barkers Creek in the semi-final at Barkers Creek oval starting at 6:00 pm Friday evening, March 4.

Both semi-finals promise to be great games so get along and support our local cricketers.

In the men’s B Grade division, Hepburn lost their elimination final against Harcourt. Harcourt won the toss and sent Hepburn in. Nathaniel Lowe batted well to make 42 and Mitch Yanner contributed 30 in a total of 7/148 off their 40 overs. Defending the small total was always going to be difficult but Hepburn got off to a great start when Jake Murphy dismissed the Harcourt captain with the score on 0. Owen Bloomfield(12)  and Scott Foxall (59) steadied the ship though and Harcourt went on to score the required runs in 32 overs with the loss of five wickets. Nevertheless, it has been a very enjoyable season for the second XI and one where the young players youngsters improved immensely. The Club can look forward to the season ahead.
