The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Heatwave Warning for most of Victoria for the whole of the Labour Day Weekend.

Temperatures in Daylesford  are predicted to be 35°C on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Fire conditions will be Extreme on Saturday and Sunday and Total Fire Bans are likely to be in place although they have not yet been declared.

The CFA has warned people planning and preparing for a long weekend to check Fire Danger Ratings. Access daily updates on Fire Danger Ratings at https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/fire-bans-ratings-and-restrictions/total-fire-bans-fire-danger-ratings

The heatwave corresponds with Daylesford’s ChillOut Festival. The Festival will proceed but organisers are prepared to help visitors. “We have free water stations provided by Daylesford & Hepburn Mineral Springs Company,” said ChillOut Festival organiser, Pete Bunce.

“There will be market umbrellas to provide additional shade and we will also have free sunscreen. We ask that everyone takes care, has fun and stays hydrated.”

Some events have been cancelled due to the expected conditions. A Mountain Bike Ride with the Great Dividing Trail Association planned for Sunday has been postponed. If you are planning to attend an outdoor event, check with event organisers for any changes in plans.
