Nadia Piave (voice) and Jacinta Dennett (harp) who have been playing as duo Bliss since the 1990s, will present an afternoon concert, ‘Green’, at Yandoit Cultural on Sunday October 16th.
Piave’s awards include the prestigious Frederic May Foundation Scholarship from the University of Sydney, and Dennett’s awards include the Jim Marks Postgraduate Scholarship and the Director’s Award for Exceptional Doctoral Research at the University of Melbourne.
The concert on Sunday October 16th will present over 20 songs ranging from the 1500s to the present that explore the shades, tones and complexities of green in music that includes the colour in their titles, lyrics or themes. The concert includes re-imagined evergreens like Greensleeves, Robert Burns’ Green Grow the Rashes, Being Green, and Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights, and compositions by artists including Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis, Tom Waits, and Green Day.
Yandoit Cultural, the old church in the bush, is located at Uniting Church Rd, off High St, Yandoit. The concert will commence at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 16th. Entry is by donation. For bookings, email ycfcpg@gmail.com.
