Ever heard of a job that requires no experience, gives no training, pays nothing and you can’t quit? That’s motherhood.  Oh, and people’s lives are on the line.

In celebration of mothers everywhere, we offer a few collected thoughts from children about their mothers and a few thoughts from mothers about their children.

First the kids:

What are mothers made from?

“God used dirt, just like He did for the rest of us.”

“God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.”

“They had to get their start from men’s bones. Then they mostly use stirring, I think.”

What kind of little girl was your mom?

“They say she used to be nice.”

“I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.”

If you could change one thing about your mum, what would it be?

“I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on her back.”

“She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean.  I’d get rid of that.”

“I’d make my mum smarter.  Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.”

What does your mum do in her spare time?

“Mothers don’t do spare time.”

And from the mothers:

“I hate when I’m waiting for mum to cook dinner, and then I remember I am the mum, and I have to cook dinner.”

“Motherhood is like a fairy tale, but in reverse.  You start out in a beautiful ball gown and end up in stained rags cleaning up after little people.”

“My kids asked me what it was like to be a mum. So, I woke them up at 3 a.m. demanding to know where my lucky sock was.”

“Mums don’t wish they could sleep like a baby.  They wish they could sleep like a dad.”

Happy Mother’s Day to mothers everywhere from all of us a The Wombat Post.
