I read with interest the letters published last week outlining the increase in car thefts and break-ins that have taken place in Daylesford and the response from local MP Mary-Anne Thomas.
I have to say that I find Ms. Thomas’ response to be high in quoting statistics in relation to the Victorian Police Force, its numbers and the amount of funding allocated by her government.
I don’t feel that the questions asked by your correspondent were sufficiently addressed.
Daylesford is an expanding community as anyone witnessing the number of new real estate developments can testify. I don’t think it is too much to ask that efforts be made to establish a 24hours police presence in the town.
Judging by the number of police marching in the Chillout parade a few weeks back, there are plenty of officers out there.
