Wombat Park Estate Open Garden Weekend

Garden enthusiasts, history buffs, and admirers of natural beauty, mark your calendars! Wombat Park Estate’s historic garden, described as ‘pure romance’ and of state significance, will open its gates to the public for the first time in nearly 10 years on November 2nd and 3rd, 2024.

Nestled in the heart of Daylesford, Victoria, Wombat Park Estate boasts a garden that is steeped in history and grandeur. First planted in the early 1850s and meticulously developed over the 19th and early 20th centuries, this garden is a testament to the enduring beauty of Victorian-era landscaping. <add Sangster info and only three families>

The centerpiece of the estate is a splendid residence, designed by the renowned Melbourne architect Rodney Alsop, constructed between 1910-1912. But it’s not just the architectural marvel that draws visitors; it’s the extraordinary selection of trees that form an exquisite tapestry of garden rooms.

Visitors will be enchanted by the ever-changing foliage colours that delight the senses with each passing season. The dramatic framework of clipped hedges, sweeping lawns, and towering evergreens provide both form and function, while sheltered garden rooms and hidden spaces evoke a sense of magic and wonder.

This is a garden adorned with magnificent conifers and deciduous trees, many of which were planted over 80 to 180 years ago. It’s a journey through time and nature’s splendour, well worth the trip into the Victorian countryside.
